As the song says, it’s the most wonderful time of the year. The song talks of good cheer, happy meetings, friends coming to call, hosting parties, and loved ones being near.
Sadly this year might not be anything like the song, either because of the restrictions or because we’ve lost loved ones, and it’s completely OK to acknowledge that and to be sad about it. It is sad, and it’s weird and still so uncertain.
We might even find ourselves feeling conflicted. This time of year sometimes brings with it an expectation to be happy and merry, and if we aren’t feeling that it can bring up feelings of disappointment, guilt and frustration.
So be kind to yourselves. Whether you’re feeling fantastic or the complete opposite, it’s OK. And if you find yourself feeling like things are getting too much, you don't have to go through it alone.
