Support Session Successes

Over the course of May, The Learning Shop has proudly hosted a variety of support sessions to help individuals get into work or progress within their career.

The 2nd May saw the beginning of our Food and Drink SWAP in partnership with Job Centre Plus with the aim of helping individuals achieve their Food and Drink Passport, providing essential knowledge needed for working in UK Food & Drink Manufacturing industry. The six-day course, spread over two weeks, saw attendees achieve certification in Level 2 Food and Safety, Level 2 HACCP, Level 2 Health and Safety and Allergen Awareness.

From the start of May, we have supported 27 individuals with one-to-one support in curating and updating their CV’s. Providing tailored support for each customer, CV’s accurately represented the individuals skills and experience whilst also adhering to modern employers standards and expectations.

After her appointment, Gaye Wilson expressed:

“Katie was excellent, she greeted me well. Katie very pleasant and lovely. I felt comfortable with Katie and Katie a very good communicator. Katie did an excellent job in improving my c.v.”

On the 23rd of May, we saw 12 individuals attend our Introduction to Visual Merchandising course, aiming to encourage attendees to think creatively and commercially about retail space, provide an insight into effective in-store displays and store window design, as well as provide an insight into current fashion trends. The group thoroughly expressed their enjoyment of the session, highlight how informative and fun it was regarding creating their own displays.

All attendees received certification upon completing the course, making a fine new addition to their CV!

The Learning Shop team are excited to step into June, brining forth new customers to help and support on their career journeys.
