Charlotte had been unemployed for a couple of months before being referred to our two week pre-employment programme here at The Learning Shop. After the first few sessions Charlotte had already felt better equipped in seeking employment and found the CV writing and Interview techniques sessions had played a huge part in this.
The Learning Shop has a strong relationship with Bluewater retailers which enables us to have a real insight into their recruitment process and what key skills they are looking for in an applicant. With this in mind our programme is specifically written to help people get back into work with key skills such as first impressions, body language, branding awareness etc.
Part of the programme entailed showing Charlotte how to apply for vacancies on the Learning Shop website and she was soon given the opportunity to put her new skills into practice when she secured an interview with Marks & Spencer’s, Bluewater.
Charlotte found the course extremely positive and gave us the following feedback:
“The Learning Shop me improve on my original CV so that it looked professional and something an employer would notice. They also helped me to improve my interview technique skills, we discussed the most common interview questions and what the best answers would be. I really enjoyed taking part in the course, it was nice to meet other people on the programme in a similar situation to mine.”
Charlotte has now secured a position as a member of the Marks & Spencer’s team, working part-time as a sales assistant in the homeware department.
