Shannon – A girl with determination
Shannon, at the young age of 17 came to us at the Learning Shop in 2012 and attended one of our Pre-employment training courses, At the time she was very unsure of any career prospects and aspirations and needed help finding her way.
“We all learnt many things about Customer Service, Retail Skills and more about shaping into a person that will contribute to society in a good way.”
Shannon was with us for almost 3 weeks and in this time she gained many new skills that enabled her to get a job at EAT in Bluewater.
“I learnt to believe in myself and with that I then got my first job – EAT. In Bluewater !! a year into the position I got a phone call to say that I have been put forward for an award that had been from when I was studying with The Learning Shop as I was very scatty when I was there and in the time of completing the course and working at EAT. They felt that I had progressed the most so then I was awarded Young Learner of the Year 2012.”
After a year and a half working at EAT she decided to start looking for another job that will further her career, she now works as an Account manager providing workflow solutions for companies in London and loves it.
“There’s a lot of hurdles to jump in order to be successful as this is an ongoing process but it shows with perseverance and a positive mind you can take yourself on an incredible journey if you promise yourself you are worth it and that your willing to work hard for it. If I didn’t do that course, I wouldn’t be where I am today and for that I will be forever grateful!”
We are so incredibly proud of Shannon and wish her all the best for the future.
