Last week was National Apprenticeship week, North West Kent College in partnership with Jobcentre plus held an Apprenticeship Open day at the Oakfield Lane, Dartford Campus. After heavy snow falling earlier that morning, over 130 people attended to talk to training providers, Jobcentre Plus and North West Kent College staff.
Recent changes in Government legislation to rise the compulsory education participation age to 18, has meant that Apprenticeships are becoming increasingly popular for 16 year olds.
After the event individual was asked to give feedback about their experience:
- 96% would recommend an event like this to a friend.
- 31% applied for an apprenticeship on the day.
- 39% had an increased knowledge/awareness of apprenticeships as a result of the event.
Tracy Anne Barker, Commercial Service’s Manager said ” Tuesday’s event was a real success, local people has great support from advisors about Apprenticeships and other training opportunities.”
